Oh My GOD

I have just had a phone call from a recruitment agency in NZ saying a company is interested in me.

Back in Oct when I was at the NZIS expo I stopped at a recruitment agency stand Martin Recruitment, everyone had gone it was 5.30, I noticed they had a sign up saying sales managers wanted so thought what the heck and completed a form in haste. This was the only form I filled in throughout the day (apart from competitions)

They sent me an email 2 days ago and have just followed it up with a phone call.

I am now in a tiz. Reason being my plan really was to buy a fruit farm or something like that and work for myself, while hubby went out to work.

But if they are willing to pay top dollar they I may put that on hold for a while and get 'im in doors to play house husband

thing is though he mentioned Auckland :(

I have sent him my cv and see what this company is offering. nothing venture nothing gained.

Has anybody heard of this company before and how interested must the other company be. Is it standard practise for them to phone you?

I've never used a recruitment co before or as I call them flesh peddler.

Good on you Jo !!!!

Just suck it and see - you never know what they may come up with. I know Auckland isn't your first choice but if it means a foot on the ladder I'm sure you can put up with it for a while.

Also ........

I'll have you know I was a very successful 'flesh peddler' for Brook Street thank you very much. :nice1 :laugh :nice1 :laugh :nice1

Jo, I've never used one & I'm on the books with three in Auckland.

Two are really keen the third a little flat, I get 2 emails a month from Hays re-afirming a clients interest in me just from a CV emailed to them - never spoke but they want to see me as soon as I can (strange way as soon as I can - normally the other way). Hays want me to enjoy my "free" time (like I wont be looking for a house, a car, a nursery, an ISP, another car) before I'm presented to her client.

Career Engineers - appear to sit on the fence, cards close to her chest (another female recruitment agent) not give to much away but still give you confidence that there are 2 prospective clients to see me.

CRS - started well but I think lost interest.

So I think they are ok but well done - alot of us have noticed that if you keep throwing yourself at it.....some will stick!

Jo,
Just do it!!!!!!!!
Get you skinny a*** to Auckland and take it from there. Thats what we're doing. Auck is not really our intended area but its where the job is!

It would be fab if you were in Auck ( purely selfish reason)

Love Linda xx

Hi Jo,
I agree with Diny and Linda, take the job and once you are there, you can work your way to your final goal.
Good luck :nice1

Oh to add to that does anyone know what the average salary for a regional Sales Manager is in Auckland. I can check whether they are trying to get me cheap or not then. :nice1

Go for it girl. You are aware that we didn't want to go to Auckland ourselves, but if that opportunity arrives you have to grab it. You can't find yourself further down the line saying to yourself what if can you. Just get your feet in and then take stock of the situation at a later date. You can always move on. Thats our intention.
As Diny says suck and see...............

Oh can't help you with salaries, sorry.

Hi Jo,
like you, I had a phone call on wednesday evening, but unfortunately I was still at work. My eldest daughter who was home from university took the call for me. It was only Peter Tennent, the Mayor of New Plymouth calling to see how things were progressing, and letting me know that since the Expo' they've been quite busy their side talking to other agencies concerning work!. As I wasn't available he said he would email me later in the day, which he did. what a good bloke :nice1

You wouldn't get that sought of attention from the mayor of any town in the UK would you ?

Cheers

Wow Jo, hope something comes of this :hopeso Like Diny I was a 'flesh paddler' (never been called this before :eek ) for 5yrs. Have no problem in using agencies at all. Some are good, some just make the right sounds. Andy met with some good ones in Chch, will have to wait and see the outcome. Go for it :nice1

Bubbles - fantastic, a mayor phoning you from across the world. Like you, I'm sure this doesn't happen in many places. New Plymouth is wonderful if there's a job for you!
