Hi Everyone,

We are hoping to move to NZ in May 2007. We havent been to New Zealand before and are going to hopefully stay in lodges etc for a while (3 weeks) travelling around the 2 islands.

Anyway Ive looked at some statistics and only 12% of parents have 3 children! its generally one or two. Ive looked at a few lodges which seem to be only 2 bed and we would need something abit larger.

Can anybody recommend an economical way of seeing the two islands, with the five of us,

Natalie

Hi Natalie,

Just a thought - I've not used one, but a camper van. I know you can get 6 berth ones. I have camped in NZ ( In a tiny 2 man tent) and all of the campsites were really good!

Hope this helps

Hi Nat
I know exactly how you feel , we have the same problem, with 3 kids (5 actually but 2 are grown up and left the nest)
Try Southern cross hotels we used them at Dunedin, Christchurch (nr airport), they have rooms that take 5.
Also try apartments, we used them at Kaikora, Queenstown.
Also B&B (I think we used the Nz AA guide) got one at Fox, and at Pancake rocks.
You can do it , but it isnt easy.
In the UK and Europe you seem to get the stock answer that their insurance will not cover for more than 2 children in a room.
Its the usual health and Safety gone MAD

You would think a family with 3 kids was abnormal !!
