:raebanana :clap :cheers
Im in a state of shock writing this, but we have just recieved news of a job offer for my OH!!!!!!!!! Interviewed last thu and we got the email from NZ police on tues evening. Now it's panic mode on what to do 1st! We have nearly completed our on-line EOI, but my god it's tedious, I can only imagine what the other forms will be like. Incidentally if anyone can advise on proof of ID for our 6mth old daughter, the EOI requires her passport details for ID but she doesn't have one yet, can we not proceed with it until she gets one? Not really a problem but will take up more time. Then we are going to look at shipping companies, we may need to rent furnished initially as we have 2 small kiddies but by renting furnished we wont actually have an address to deliver our furniture to if that makes sense! Can shipping co's store our stuff whilst we find something we want? Obviously that will come at a cost! Im going to look thru the posts re shipping but any good recommendations are welcome.
Anyway I shall leave it at that because Im all over the place tonight!!
Thanks Amanda, Danny, Jack & Ella-Maud :)

Good on you, if you're coming to Wellington there are a few furnished apartment places we looked at. We're staying in one now that's very nice, but may be a bit on the pricey side for you. Let me know if you need some suggestions for Welly.

leachio, when does everything have to happen by? Is there a date your OH must start work? Are you coming out all together or is he coming out 1st?

Well we don't have an exact date but we know its anywhere from April till prob mid summer. Once the police gets things more definate we will be informed of a date. Im just thinkin that April is very close and so far we have done nothing! I don't however think he will be penalised if he says we are not quite ready.
Thanks Leachio & co xx :nice1

That is wonderful news.
My sister-in-law recently completed her EOI and her 3 year old son did not have a passport at the point of submission. You can actually submit the EOI without filling in this portion. (Child under 17 only) Upon submission of your ITA you will be required to provide a passport for you little one.
Hope that helps some.
Regards,
Jonathon

Congrats! I know once you get over the shock you will find the news so reassuring. Having a good job to go to a big step on the process, and you've now taken it... hopefully everything else will fall ito place with just a bit of patience and a lot of form filling :)

Wow, lucky things and congrats on job offer!
Lots of shipping companies will arrange storage either in UK or NZ so you'll just have to start getting quotes. We were told it's cheaper to store in NZ.

Wow - exciting news!!!!!
The baby passport is another headache in itself of course - ever tried getting a passport photo of a baby....not easy!!!! And, years later, try getting through immigration with a big toddler whose passport photo looks like every other baby you've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!
I think getting a baby passport photo makes the EOI and ITA form filling process seem simple.
If you manage to get your baby to pose for the photo, you will be over the biggest hurdle and the rest will be easy. As for police checks....guess hubbies job might just speed those up too! (favour for a mate and all that!)
well done guys, hannah

Hi and congrats! We moved from York at the beginning of the year and had the passport for a baby to do as our youngest was born 2 days before Xmas. We sent it off at New Year and had it back within 4 days. You can get a decent baby passport photo taken at happy snaps (think it is on stonegate) and they're not too expensive either.
Good luck with the move.

Congrats!!!! Great news!! You must be so excited!
Your hubby will be just around the corner from where we live at Police College - its in Papakowhai - often see about 5-10 marked & unmarked police cars on a tiny stretch of road outside the police college doing training when I'm coming back from the shops (I know not to speed up that road!!) ;)
Not sure about proof of baby's identity for the EOI - might be worth e-mailing NZIS - maybe somewhere like a police station or court might be able to certify a photograph - otherwise - I'd rush through a passport. Just a word of advice - if they're as stringent about baby photos on the passports in UK as they are in NZ - then take the baby to a photoshop like Supasnaps & get them to take the photo for you - we've just done that over here - they took about 50 photos!! but they gave me the photos & told me that if they were refused that we could get another one done there for free!!
Don't worry - 5 months is loads of time - we had PR within 8 weeks of sending in EOI. Things you want to get organised now are your medical & your police checks - police checks can take a few weeks - I think ours were 6 weeks & some of the medical places (down South anyway) can be booked up for weeks in advance - once you have those 2 things sorted & have the EOI in everything else can follow...
I'm sure the police will be flexible about start date - they've just run a huge recruitment drive in NZ & are quite desperate for good policemen/women.
Good luck - looking forward to hearing more as you apply & move over!!!
