We've now been in Auckland for nearly 9 months, and on a few occasions have muttered to ourselves: 'If only we'd brought 'this' or 'that' with us'. Hope I'm not being too cheeky here, but I'm keeping my fingers and all else crossed hoping that someone who is due to head out to Auckland soon can help.

Our youngest (Amy) turns 4 next week and has really outgrown her (cot-)bed. I have for the past couple of months been looking everywhere I can think of (shops & online) for a mid sleeper / cabin bed for her. Her sister has one also, and we think they're great for smaller rooms as there is storage and play space underneath these beds. Here are a couple of links to some of the options Argos have: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6627717/Trail/C%24cip%3D41700.Furniture%2Band%2Bfurnishings%3EC% 24cip%3D41773.Beds%3EC%24cip%3D41774.Cabin%2Bbeds% 2Band%2Bmid%2Bsleepers.htm

Unfortunately I'm not having any luck in finding this kind of bed here, simply bunk beds or normal beds seem to be the only option. Had I known this, I would have bought Amy a new bed already before we left the UK.

What I'm hoping for is this:- I can easily purchase a flatpacked bed from Argos online, using our creditcard, and have it delivered to anywhere in the UK. The question is:- does anybody have a small space in their container to fit this bed in??? It honestly doesn't take up a lot of room, i.e. 1 mattress, 1 flat pack bed. There are various bed options online, some with 14 some with 21 day delivery. Also some units come with additional cabinets etc. But this would obviously totally depend on space 'you' may have available.

Can anybody help?? I would be so grateful, and would obviously re-imburse you for any costs to do with the shipping etc

Here's hoping for a favourable reply . . . .

Hi Babette

I have seen something similar at Harvey Norman on the Shore. I can't remember the price but I'm guessing it was pretty expensive. We noted it as we thought it would be great when Cam outgrows his cotbed.

Thanks Debs. If it's the one we saw it's around $1000 with the units under the bed being fixed in place, i.e. no playspace. In comparisson with what we'd be able to get from Argos we thought it quite expensive (good quality though) and not really what we were after. Will take another look though.

Babette,

Sorry I can't help either, but I thought I'd add to the Children's furniture info, this place is good, but also expensive, so I just look out for the sales:

www.cileknewzealand.com

They have a small shop based in Devonport. I'm sure I had some other links, I'll look them up for you just in case they are of use, but like you I have found many furniture items here to be more expensive or hard to get (we never did find a wardrobe.).

Cheers

Hi there,

If you can't get it to the emery family in time, our shippers are coming 12th December and we should have enough room in our container. John Masons said 2 months delivery time and we should be in Auckland mid January.

Thanks so much Emery's & SnailandtheWhale - can't tell you how much I appreciate your offers!!

Emery's - unfortunately (for me) Argos won't be able to deliver it to you by the time your container gets filled. How exciting though - only a few more days and your adventure will be starting it's new chapter. I'll PM you over the next few days. See you soon :raebanana

Karen & Simon - wow time has flown since we last PM'd - not long now for you guys either. Would love to take you up on your offer :) Will PM you for address / contact details - Thank you so much !!!

As usual, no question to silly or obscure on this forum - what would I do without my cyber family. . . . thanks guys.
