Hi All,

Just a quickie ;) and I'm sure this has been asked many times before:

When is the right time to start applying for a job?

I've now got my PR approved in principle and we are aiming to go sometime around April, not sure where as it really depends on a job though Chch or Rotorua are fav's at the moment. Naturally OH wants to go now :roll but we're still squirreling cash away as much as possible.

I've had a look at the shortage lists and don't see my role on there :( but looking at sites like trademe, seek & the Govt I've found a number of vacancies for Accounting types like me (not CA).

Trouble is I'm worried about peaking too soon, but equally petrified at never getting a job........

Any thoughts happily accepted.

Hi Beano

My humble opinion is that it's never too early.

It's now November, everything here will shut for xmas and the holidays soon, so that's going to take out a big chunk of time.

Start applying for jobs asap, if you have a firm arrival date and PR, people are going to take you seriously. :clap

Good luck, I'm looking forward to your I've got a job post already!

I agree with Smiler - from mid-Dec through to end Jan no-one will be interested in doing interviews because NZ pretty much shuts down for summer hols. Personally I'd start looking now, but don't expect there to be loads of jobs on during the month of December/January. Good luck!
