Just in case any of you fancy and it were not sure when it was, this also gives you details of the route...

We went to the Howick one today, but were late, so got a rubbish spot, and AJ did not see much (and neither did I)!

they had a parade in Invercargill today too, I was watching the guys fitting lights up on Tay st in the strong winds - wonder if they got hazzard pay!

They had to cancel the beach race at Oreti on the Burt Munro challenge and its actually blowing a gale and chucking it down at the minute so we are sat watching the film on 3 in front of the fire!

There were loads of bikers in town thou and liquerland said sales were up big time - so I guess the weekend has brought in some money.

I think if they hold one next year - they should wait till Dec/Jan or Feb!

Gem was supposed to be in the Henderson Parade yesterday with her dance school but she had a prior engagement (A 5th birthday party that was def more important). Oh to have my daughter's social life - all those parties!! :laugh

We won't be doing the big one in town either. Mark's away in Taupo for the cycle race (160km - he's def nuts!!) and there's no way I'm subjecting myself to sole care of a 3 year old who's likely to wander off and chat to anyone and a 5 year old in the sort of crowds that are likely to be there.

We occupied ourselves by going to the grand opening of Jantsens yesterday (our new local pet store) and met the lionman, an 11 month old lion cub (huge he was!!) and a white tiger - close up and personal (less than a foot away and only a flimsy waist high fence between us!! ).

But thanks for the info Sal.

Hmm it was OK, but a bit too long that in the end we just couldn't stand to wait a bit longer. Any members of the forums come down and see the parade?

We just got home from the Santa Parade - it did go on a bit long for me, but Nik enjoyed it and toddler Peter looooved it - Bob the Builder AND Dora the Explorer AND Spiderman!

OH is in Auckland this weekend and he had a wander past and took a photo of Spongebob for the kids. Does anyone know if this is the same Santa parade that will be taking place in Christchurch next Sunday? Has anyone ever been to the Christchurch one? The kids are badgering us to take them, but I don't want to have to hang around for hours (especially with an active 15 month old in tow)!
