Well we got here at last. *:) We arrived very late last Tuesday. We were interviewed by Immigration on arrival - they seemed more concerned about Caz being pregnant rather than us looking for work on visitor visas, howver about 15 mins of checks and questions they were happy to let us into the country.

The good news before was that a couple of days I was offered a job with a large IT company on the North Shore so that at least that it one load off our mind.

We are staying in a lovely holiday flat which is part of the owner's villa in Herne Bay . I will post details of it at some later point WIGTT.

We have mostly recovered from jetlag although Caz is suffering from pregnancy tiredness from time to time.

Now our next task is to find a rental. Herne Bay is lovely but the commute to work by public transport would probably be too long. We've hired a car and today we visited Northcote and Birkenhead. Northcote we didn't like at all - it seemed very dead. However Birkenhead seems lovely particularly Birkenhead Point. Birkenhead has a surprisingly large shopping centre and seems to have everything we need. However other parts of Birkenhead seem too much like surburbia (yuck!!!!) so we need to avoid those.

More later!!!

Rgds.,
Nick.

Hi Nick and Caz
Welcome to NZ!!!
Why were you interviewed by immigration out of interest? Is that something that normally happens if you come over on a visitor visa? (We came into NZ twice on visitors visas and were just asked why were were there - reply: holiday. No further questions). Oh, and we were quizzed after the fruit dog sat down near my sons rucksack and got a whiff of apple juice in the pocket (it was his school rucksack and it had a mouldy apple in it a long time ago!!!)

Hi Nick & Caz

Glad to hear you made it safe and sound. I look forward to hearing more from you about your early days in NZ. Hope Caz isn't feeling too tired with the pregnancy.

Take care,

Paula

P.S. We finally submitted our ITA last week.

Hi Hannah,

There was a question on the NZ entry card asking whether you are coming to NZ to have a baby. Caz will be having the baby in NZ but we didn't come here to have the baby if you see what I mean so we weren't sure whether to put yes or no. We asked the guy at customs who referred us to the immigration desk the airport. Immigration just wanted to see our letter from NZIS saying that we had submitted an application for PR and details of our return flights. They went off for 10 mins - I imagine to do some checks, and when we came back they said everything was ok.

They told us we should have answered yes to the question BTW.

Rgds.,
Nick.
