OK, first time ever, I lost a credit card, last seen in The Warehouse being used for the purchase of a bargain...

I realised when I went to the dairy later on it was not in my purse, and rang ASB to say it was missing/lost...

Just logged in to internet bank (mainly to check it had not been used illicitly) they have charged me $10 to replace it, blardy cheek, they already charge us fee for having it in the first place, you would think the odd replacement would be covered...... grrrrrrr. Not Happy.........

Eek! Paying twice for the priviledge does seem a bit steep.

A cheque book got lost in the move before this one. BNZ charged me $25 to stop all the cheques (I'd only written one out to the IRD:wah) and then it was another $12 to get a replacement. I told them no thanks and now do everything online.

I know you can't to that with a credit card though, sorry Sal.

When we moved here, the cheque book dropped out of the underside of the filing cabinet. I destroyed it by putting it on the fire and it was like watching money burn.

Sal -

You could try asking your manager to get the fee waived. The CC department (especailly at ASB) are next to useless - and cant do anything off thier own back it seems. If you want to get round them - its your manager you have to ask.

I would also make a point of telling him that you were not informed when reporting it that you would be charged - and by reporting you have have saved them as well as yourself from having fraudulent transactions end up on the account - which means you have saved them considerable work.

It may feel a bit cheeky to do this - but ive been doing it for ages. I just pass everything onto the manager and expect him to take care of it all. Its worth a shot.

We dont have a manager, but I do plan a "gripe" to them saying I was not told about this at the time... see if I get anywhere! Also stress my feeling of being ripped off.... I reckon the fee should cover one lost card a year at least.....

It's worth asking at your branch and getting a manager, it's really more a point of contact than anything. Like Av says you can then email or ask them all you like and they are quite good at getting stuff like fees refunded. You only have to ask. :D

We've got a manager at our branch in Welly but we're going to a local branch and asking them to 'look after us'. Sounds posh but I want someone who I can contact if I have a problem, who is not in a call centre in Delhi.

I was going to say the same thing - I have no idea if there are any "rules" about who gets a manager. I know we got one when we took out the mortgage - but its probably worth asking. I do know that if you dont like the one you get - you can ask to change them.

My hubby reckons you just need to ask to have it waived.
Especially if you are classed as a "valued" customer.

What annoys me is when you write out a cheque and have to pay a 25c "cheque fee" like I was asked for with the kids' school photos.

Damn cheek!
I was tempted to tell them where to stick their photos!

Apparantly the more you owe the more valued you are.

hmm.....

We recently had the same issue but my wife found her card the next day (she only phoned to put a stop on them and not a cancellation). Anyway ASB charged 10 dollars for the CC and Kiwibank 5 for the eftpos - Complained on both and didn't get a cent back off them :(

Well, I now have a visa card, BUT I was promised a phone call when it was ready for collection, and I gave it the 5 days they said it might take, and rang to chase it, to be told it was sat at the branch....., so I trundled off down the branch to get it, they had had it for four days, and no-one bothered to call me!

So I wrote a letter complaining about the $10 fee, and the fact that I had not recieved very good customer service over this matter... result $10 back to card today :nice1 .
