Hi everyone,
Wanted to put up our medicals-related queries for review and comment:
Recently I had an ectopic pregnancy and one of my fallopian tubes was removed laproscopically. My Gynae told me after the operation that she did not see any problem inside and gave me a clean bill of health. She said sometimes ectopic pregancies just happen for no apparent reason. She even told me that she didn't see any cysts in my ovaries (were accidentally discovered a couple of years ago during a scan) and that I had managed my PCOS very well with diet and exercise and she could no longer see any symptoms.
Also my husband had asthma but has been on homeopathic medication and has not had an episode in 8 years. He would only get it once a year IF we are close to wheat being threshed during April. Rest of the year he is absolutely fine. He has developed atopic eczema (non-contagious) not really noticeable now but can flare up when the weather is too dry.
How will this affect our medicals?

Hi Qiwi Lin
I'm not a doctor but reading your post you appear to have both you and your husbands conditions under control.
NZIS may want to know that you will not be a drain on the NZ health system. Letters from your consultant may help with this, if asked for. Do a forum search for medicals etc, there's lots of info on here.
There was a thread on PCOS the other day and and there's a couple of forumites who might be able to answer your queries.
It looks like you have little to worry about (to me):D . Just be upfront and don't worry. Like I said, you may be asked for a further investigation or referrals, but I'd worry about that when you are asked.
Good luck with all your plans and let us know how you get on. :nice1

Thank you for the encouraging post. Feels good to know there are people one can share these anxieties with as well as the joy when it'll all be over. :cheers

Qiwi Lin - a very warm, though slightly belated, welcome to the forum from us!
I imagine that few applicants are in perfect health or have an utterly unblemished medical history. Like smiler I am not a doctor, and I know especially little about PCOS*, but the eczema and asthma you mention certainly seem to me to be good examples of conditions that you will probably have to disclose but that are under sound, inexpensive control. Also, I seem to remember that there are opportunities for you or the doc to indicate that your family's experience of such conditions are mild/occasional, or whatever, as opposed to being incessant, severe and possibly pricey challenges.
And of course, from the doctor's perspective, (s)he is used to seeing 'imperfect' applicants applying every week. The doc knows how to see through mild imperfections to the basic soundness of health beneath.
All the very best to you with your applications! :nice1
(*=so I won't comment on PCOS, just because I'm ignorant, not because it's necessarily a big NZIS-medical worry!)

I had an ectopic pregnancy back in 1996 (wow, does n't time fly!) and had a tube removed.
Had to put this in medical details on form but no probs at all.
We got our 3 yr wk visas in August and PR this month.
Good luck to you both.

Thank you for the warm welcome :D
My husband and I are feeling very reassured and would really like to thank everyone who took the time out to put up replies to our post. Sometimes your family and friends can't get why something is sooo important to you or why some other thing not working out could be such a big deal. So it's a warm fuzzy feeling being here. Thank you once again.
