hi all, hope someone can offer encouragement as both of us feeling low at present. got job offer, start dte, i am principal applicant on residency application. dawn my wife the second applicant, no kids.

Medicals done, residency application sent in, within 48 hrs, telephone call from case officer saying he was referring my wifes application to the medical panel for NZ immigration!!

My wife has suffered M.E. for nearly 3yrs, and has in recent months made a good recovery, to the point she is looking to recommence work. the NZ medical we had at handworth flagged up no problems with the M.E., Dawns GP wrote a supporting letter to state she would be no burden, and was at the point of returning to work. Yet she has still been referred, when i mailed the case officer to ask why he stated "There are certain conditions that are automatically not accepted and there are others that need further assessment, this is one of the latter."

Yet two drs have both said it is not a problem!

Has anyone had experience of this condition, and trying to get in?

We are mighty fed up at present, sat here house sold, brilliant job offer, and being held up for something that will have no bearing on anyone in NZ, Dawns not even the principal applicant

does this all mean it will be a no go, end of a dream, costly one at that!

all thoughts, ideas and suggestions welcomed

Hi Simon and Dawn,
Sorry to hear your wife has been ill. I would not worry too much though, as I think it's just as they say it is: some conditions get referred to the medical board automatically. The same happened to me, I had meningitus a couple of years ago, and because of that our application was delayed as well because it was referred to the medical board in London. The doctor told me not to worry as it was an automatic referral. Just a delay of two weeks and we got our visa.
Good luck!

Hi Simon and Dawn.
What you are going through is standard practice for most people with medical conditons. If you check through the medical sections of this forum you will see that many people go through this. I have diabetes and osteoporosis and although I have not been fully aproved yet all the signs are good. The biggest concern NZ have is that you are not going to be a too big a drain on their funds. I know many people with M.E and as there are no drugs involved the drain on their funds are negligible as long as you don't need round the clock nursing which is the case of severe M.E sufferers. Think positive as I do and I am pretty sure everything will be O.K
By the way, welcome to the forum

Kindest regards

Dave and Caroline
