The last week or two before leaving can sure have some twists and turns. As of this morning, we got an email from London saying that everything looked good and the visa should be processed and then Fed Ex'd back to us in the next couple days.

I went ahead and changed my plane ticket only to learn that the actual ticket has to be fed ex'd only to be fed ex'd back. I wanted electronic tickets, and no one seems to know why paper ones were issued. How quickly I've become accustomed to electronic tickets forgetting the nuances of paper tickets. But then there was a power outage in town which hammered home how reliant we now are on electronics as I had to wait to do all my errands, banking, and even shopping at some stores.

Yet with all this bother, I'm thrilled that we're one step closer. My new boss in NZ emails delightful postive messages that cheer me up. We are subletting a house that sound rather lovely and a part of Welly that I loved on my whirlwind tour of NZ last year. Plus our stuff is 90% ready to be shipped. Thanks to those here who suggested shipping options. We ended up going with upakweship. 100 cubic foot minimum was perfect for us. Plus we got a rare beutiful snow here in western Oregon that is a lovely send off.

That's all for now - I'll post again once I get down there.

Think how boring life would be if everything went according to plan :D
Where in Wellington will you be? We are still oscillating wildly (in our minds) between CC and Wellie (with a dash of Nelson added to keep it spicy), so I love to hear which neighborhoods catch peoples' fancies..

A little snow in Oregon? We are headed from around 60F on Saturday to 0F on Wednesday - currently just under 25F and headed down

Good luck with the last few days in the USA!

. We ended up going with upakweship.

I've looked them up before....I look forward to your final grade on their services. :)

well I just got word that something is wrong with my passport so now I have to go and get a new passport issued and then send that back. I fear that the passport process could take weeks if not months... oh how my heartaches this morning... and how overwhelmed I am with having to change all the plane tickets again etc.

Oregonian, your passport should not be that long. You probably can ask to expediate it or something. But, please double check. I did that for my daugther the other day.
Good luck, hope everything would be smooth as it can be for your journey.

When we got married I sent my passport out (to LA from San Diego) to have my last name changed. It was sent back 10 days later with the changes.
Just wanted to give you hope. :)
