Had our medicals done in Gloucester yesterday - all was going well until the Doctor opened my sealed x-ray envelope (x-rays were done a week earlier at the hospital) to find it didn't contain an x-ray! Aaghhhh! Good job my blood pressure had already been taken as it probably rocketed. The doc then had to phone the hospital to try to get a copy - they were very reluctant and took quite a lot of persuading as they said he didn't need it. Eventually they agreed to print another one off so after he'd done everything else we then had to race across town back to the hospital to pick up the new one. When I picked up the envelope I was about to open it to make sure the x-ray was in fact in there and the nurse then yelled 'you mustn't open it, it's just for the doctor'. They finally persuaded me it was in there so we then had to trek back across town, by this time in rush hour, in the dark, with a very tired, hungry, bored 4 year old to deliver the x-ray back to the docs.
The moral of this tale - check your x-rays!
ps - The Hadwen medical practice were great - our daughter was in her element and insisted the nurse gave me a sticker for being so brave. I'm now the proud owner of an "I've been vaccinated against bugs" sticker so all the hassle was worth it!
pps - the doctor was very interested in the forum as he didn't know it existed but I'd have preferred he asked me about it whilst I was dressed, as opposed to lying on his couch in knickers and bra.
