We received our letter from NZIS this morning saying they had received our ITA. Guess what..... the Police had given us the wrong form and they have actually only done Police Clearances for Fife and not the UK as requested. Arrghhhh..
So now our application is on hold until we provide them with correct police certificates which is going to take at least 40 days (possibly longer with Christmas rapidly approaching).
I'm so annoyed.
I have rung NZIS and spoke to a lovely lady who has given me all the correct information and said that even though they want the certs by 27/12 if they haven't arrived in time they will extend the date. Which is good news.
What with the problems with Sam's blood tests for his medical (another thread), trying to sell the house, christmas, my 40th birthday approaching and now this. I think i'm going ever so slightly slowly but surely insane.

"Wrong" forms??? Which form did you use?

OK.... panic over.
After another visit to the police station and another call to NZIS it seems we did fill in the correct form. It also seems that we have got the correct police checks in our file at home. We had assumed (obviously incorrectly) that what was in the sealed envelope, from the police, was the same as the copy document they had given us (that the police asked us not to open as it was for immigration services). Not so! They had simply sealed the document from Fife police stating they held no files for us. Which incidentally, NZIS didn't require.
I have just sent them the correct documents by Recorded Delivery.
I can't tell you how relieved I am.

This has slightly confused (and concerned me)
I applied for Police checks etc a while back and all I got back were letters saying they did not have any records on file for me or my partner - so I've assumed thats all that is required.
Is this not so? Is something else required - a different form?
I have not submitted the ITA yet but want to have the records straight before doing so - can anyone help?

Hi Kirkandliz,
What you need is a document on blue paper which comes from the National Identification Service, Subject Access Office, New Scotland Yard in London and has a blue strip across the top and bottom. It was addressed to us but then begins Dear Sir/Madam - Section 7, Data Protection Act 1998 - Subject Access. At the bottom it says 'to be authentic this document must include two blue bands'. I hope this sets the record straight.

Close call there Pinkpiggy, me thinks you need to take a chill pill and slow down some. But good news all round in the end, nothing like the old adrenalin rush

quick followup question... As a teacher, i have a new "enhanced disclosure" police check for working with "vulnerable" little kiddies [if that doesn't do me head in I don't know what would :laugh ]
Does this heavily watermarked, ultimate of everything [no record of any crimes commited] count, as it doesn't say anything about, or have the 2 blue stripes thingy???
