Does anyone know how long a typical newish house is expected to last? One assumes the house was built competently and is not liable to slip, flooding or any other unpleasant act of nature. So take a modern house, built say in 1990, does anyone know with proper care and maintenance how long these houses over here were designed to stay up for? Someone mooted just 30 years? This sounds a ridiculously short time for the longevity of a property.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone in the know! Thank you in anticipation. Kind regards, Dom.

The 1990's had a lot of unregulated builders building designs not suited to the NZ climate and on a geographical fault. Wise words...Never assume anything. Get a builders report. :nice1
