hi, I've been reading a lot of posts here where people have said their cat was too old to make the trip. I'm coming to NZ from the UK. Is there an age limit for travelling pets???? I can't bear to leave them :wah

Hi,
I'm not sure on this one, maybe Pam will help she'll probably comment!

I am not taking mine because they are OLD and one in particular is very timid and vomits at the sight of the cat box - I don't think she'd make it.
And I won't split them up they love each other to bits.
Luckily mine are being rehomed across the street by my friends so i am very lucky.
I feel for you as I agonised over the cats sooooooooo much but in the end decided to lose one on the jouney would be aweful not just for us but my little girl ( the timid one is her cat) and for the other cats as well.

Good luck in whatever you decide

Love
Linda xxx

can't answer for cats but we have just flown the dogs over and Brin is 12. He coped far better than Chippie who is 4 1/2 yr old. Think a lot depends on the personality of the cat/dog. We couldn't bring the cat because he is a country cat and we live next to a busy road here, but even without that it would have been a problem because he panics if we put him in a box to go to the vets, he has to go in a small dog harness and lead.

I'm so glad to hear Brin handled the journey well. My boy Silas will be 11 when we come over next year. He's a resilient, happy-go-lucky dog and people still occasionally ask me if he's a puppy, so I think he'll handle the flight and quarrantine in good stead. (But of course I worry!)
