Am over to try for a job last two weeks in January. Left details with "Canstaff" at the expo and wonder if anyone else has has dealings with these people. Seem straight enough, and the only result a search produced was positive but I am worried about the "you musn't look for work yourself or use another agency" clause they have.

Or if there's a better agency, or not use one at all. I'm a heavy goods mechanic looking in the Auckland area, was to be Christchurch but advised better chance Auckland.

Thanks, Alan.

If I was you I would do it yourself rather than rely on an agency. One agency (ok it was more of a straightfoward immigration agency) here in chch has just gone bust and lots of people have lost their money. but in the end thats something you have to decide for yourself.

Is a job agency different from a recruiter? I don't think I would go with a company that won't allow me to use other resources, especially w/o a job guarantee.

I feel the same way about it, the thing is though Canstaff don't charge the employee, just the employer.
I'm tempted to just hawk myself round though.

I don't think I'd be happy to put myself solely in one persons hands - too much of a control freak I suppose. ;)
