Hi there, we are the new kids on the block and we are getting more and more confussed on the best way to approach the ultimate goal.
Hope this is not going to proove to boring but i feel like i have ground to a halt in which way to go.
Having had three weeks in NZ last Aug and being thoroughly convinced that this is where we belong, i returned home with a plan of attack and having tried to impliment it i seem to be digging deeper and deeper into a bottomless pit of confusion. I knew it wasn't going to be a walk in the park. Maybe i am being to anxious and a little to expectant of a quick result.
I was able to talk to various people in NZ regarding work availability and got the impression that there shoudn't be to much of a problem, being that i am in construction. It was generally thought that on my return i should get my trade qualifications evaluated. I have spent some time in collating all the required paperwork and have completed the assement form. It was just going to post when i made contact with an emigration agency who suggested that i would be better handing things over to them. So i dont know whats best, whether to try and go it alone or put myself and my family in the hands of others.
Can anyone please shine a little light.
Many thanks
Simon S

Dont bother - you will end up spending loads of un-needed dosh to them when you can easily DIY - with the help of this forum you will get any questions answered - help when your stuck - moral support (the most important in MHO)

If you have trade certs - then you will have no probs - do the online EOI and go from there - one step at a time and you should be fine.

These agencys pray on the complexity of the system and your inexperience (not many people have done this process before)

the online EOI is fairly simple and you can save it and go back as many times as you like

hope that helps....good luck

welcome to the forums!

i'm with kat on this. its easy enough to do it yourself.

an emigration agency who thinks you should pay them bucket loads of cash instead of filling in a few forms? who'd have thought it..... ;)

I second Kat, don't use them. It's very straight forward to do it yourself, if a little time consuming. Any questions you have someone on here will have the answer. Save yourself the ££££££££££££££££££££££££££ you'll need them!! :nice1

Hi Kat
Great to hear from someone so soon. Thanks for taking the time. I know what your saying and its gone through my mind already. I know its relatively early days but i need to be sure in my approach so i think i will check out the EOI online. Thanks again.

Have you familiarized yourself with the immigration site? http://www.immigration.govt.nz
Between that and this forum, you won't need an agent. :)
Also, will you need to get your qualifications assessed with the NZQA?

Good luck with everything!

I agree with all above! Having spent some some time here on this forum, I've seen several families come along who have used an agency- and been disappointed to say the very least. Most have ended up doing it on their own in the end, and found the process not too terrible.

Ask away if you find you have questions and Welcome!

Agencies are leeches :p , preying on the fears of others to take heaps of money from people who work far too hard to support them too.

I'm sure you can do this for yourself, many others have, and there are heaps of "experienced" people here eager to help others on their way along [FOR FREE!]

Any questions... just ask :)

Simon, welcome to the forum, do it yourself mate, don't let some agent get fat on your bank balance. There is nothing difficult at all, just takes a bit of the use of the old grey matter and a bit (should I lot?) of patience!

Good luck

Steve

This is what makes this forum so special. People will give you advise from their own experiences so you don't have to make same mistakes. Great forum no doubt.
