I've just read a couple of posts where some of you have mentioned coming to Auckland, and taking it from there. Just thought I'd share this info with you. We've been living in Auckland, but have to move to Christchurch for a new job (by choice). I was shocked :eek when the first quote I got was only slighlty less than it cost to move us here from UK. Sure, we've acquired a bit of stuff (outdoor furniture, a true kiwi bbq etc), but come on - it's a fraction of the distance!
My point: factor in extra moving costs if you have to move within NZ. A full packed service for 30m3 (standard 3 bed house) is $4000-$5500, plus about $1500-$2000 for insurance. It'll be a lot less if you stuff hasn't been unpacked from the container.
Having said that, we love Auckland, it's a great place to live, and if this is where you land up, you could do a lot worse!
