My visa is due to run out in Feb 07, and as i have struggled over here in the industry i am in, we have decided that Elaine become's the principal applicant so releasing me from the transport industry. She submitted the application 3 weeks ago and all seemed to be on track with it, until today.

Now she has been in constant touch with them over the application and they said all was good, but after the conversation this morning with them they have told her that it has gone to the med review board due to her diabetes. She is a Type 2 diabetic and it is controlled by medication only, but due to a few things cropping up with her medical(high blood levels) they have decided to take another look. She has told them due to stress then this would be the result.

Anyway, what i am after is simple. Is there anybody who is/was the principal applicant and has Type 2 diabetes, but was refused either on their WV,WTR,or PR on these grounds. As if this is the case i'd better go and renew my visa and stay in the industry that i have been in for the last 6 years:(

Thanks

Kim

Hi,
My husband was the prinicap application for PR Visa and is a diabetic since childhood. He filled in all the necessary forms with the medical with extra information from his specialist. He got through the medicals without any extra question. I have to add that his blood sugar levels are regulated by using insulin and that he has no trouble keeping it on a right level.

The only problem he has, that it is hard to get a private medical insurance in NZ with diabetic.

So, if you are a well regulated diabetic with proof from a specialist it is no problem to get through the medicals at all. However, I am talking 2005!

All the best with your application,
Cheers,
Anita

Hi Kim,
My hubby was the principle applicant for PR & has been diabetic for about 10 years. He got a copy of all his specialist reports and sent them in with his medical. Luckily he keeps good control he is type 1 so uses insulin.
We came to NZ in July on work visas and applied for PR once we got settle here. We used the same medicals we used to get our work visas. We got PR last month and hubby's medical info was never questioned.
We have medical insurance through hubbys work so had no problems regarding his diabetics.
My hubby is really impressed with the health care provided for those who have diabetics and has learned a lot more about his condition here than he has in the last 5 years in the UK.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your words guys, much appreciated. I know the chances of being bulleted from here is pretty slim, but Elaine is getting all worked up over it, so in turn sending her levels up. With this happening there just may be the need for her to submit more info to immigration so the results wouldn't show that she can control it. Anyway we have been told that we should have a decision either before,or just after xmas. So here's hoping.
