Hi folks, (it's been a long while since i was last logged in)

I've just had my assessment back for the following qualification:
BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners
Majored in Software Development

It came back as a Level 4. Unfortunately IT is not an acceptable trade at Level 4. It seems all IT quals must be at level5 to be accepted.

This may come in handy for anybody else looking to get an OND or National Diploma assessed. If you look at the Acceptable Trades section on the NZIS site you can see whether or not you'd be eligible for the 50points.

Needless to say, I signed up for an Open Uni diploma course and paid for 4 modules yesterday. (16 Assignments and 4 Exams to sit by October 2007!!!!). I was originally planning to study at CPIT or in Timaru for a level 6 Diploma but it makes more financial sense to study here in the UK.

Although, I may just turn up in Christchurch in July on a WHV ;) ;) to search for a job offer.

Note: i'm 19. I have no points for my age category until August 07!

Shame that, good luck Noodles, the time will fly past, especially with the study. NZ isn't going to go anywhere....

why not come over on the WHV and work here for a while to see what you really think of the place before going to the expense of PR. or can you apply for any sort of study visa or dos that work out too expensive.

Just wanted to add that IT needs to come in at a level 7 to claim bonus points :( unless they change the rules a bit.*fingers crossed*

I've made some researches and here what i've found on the nzis and the nzqa web site :

For a job to be accepted under the skilled migrant category in IT industry, it must be one of these as i understand :

31142 (Computer Systems Technicians)
31213 (Computer Support Technician)
31211 (Computer Programmer)

these are stated in nzis web site..

i'm planning to study for a lowest level "basic qualification" that's relevant to get one of these jobs in NZ because this is also adding points to the EOI application..also i have my certificates (MCSE & CCNP) and i think these would help me to get a job offer there..this way it seems possible to gather enough points..

any opinions?cause i guess this shouldn't be as easy as i'm thinking?
