Hi Everyone,

YIIIPPPEE finally we have a job offer and are waiting for this to be sent by email. They telephoned at 8.30am for an unexpected telephone interview, I got Mark out of bed and he got the job - he can even get job offers in his sleep! :laugh :laugh

The job is in Taupo, dont know alot about the place but we will give it a go. :yes

Can I use this job offer and apply for permanent residence (we are in the pool at present)? This would be our preferred option rather than a work permit because with a permit you have to earn $45,000 and this job offer is a bit less than that. Im ok with that because Ive got a good pension and its a job I know I will love.

Also if you apply for residency with a job offer can the process be quicker or is it just the same as without one?

To all you job hunters - keep sending your CV out with a covering letter, we didnt think it was going to work but it did. New Zealand Yellow Pages is good for searching businesses. Be honest in the covering letter that you need a job offer to help with the residency, even if you send that out to 100 businesses - you only need one reply!

Thanks Natalie

Little confused here Natalie, cos you mention job offer to go with your PR. What does hubby do? Is his occupation on the LTSL, cos if it is you won't need a job offer. The figure of 45k is only for WTR whereas a general work visa doesn't command any particular wage. Anyway congrats on it all, and hope you guys enjoy Taupo.

Hiya

Mark is a Chef which is on the LTSL but immigration require level 4 to get bonus points as as Mark is Level 3 we are in the pool - under 140 points.

Im getting so confused about work to residents, work permits and the rules which apply to each - the more we look at the website the more confused we get.

They should have the website re-designed by people on this forum,

Great news Natalieb!

Just contact them to let them know your circumstances have changed and your PR should be granted pretty fast with a job offer.

Well done!

Great news!! :clap

We were asked to supply immigration with a copy of the job offer and contract signed by both parties when we got pulled out of the pool, so it would be a good idea to request them from the employer now!

Thanks to you all for your kind words, we have had our fair share of ups and downs at an early stage so hopefully thats it now it will all got smoothly, fingers crossed.

We are determined now and nothing will stop this happening.

Words of support and encouragment have helped us alot on this forum. We will continue using this forum well into the future to provide the same help and support that we have recieved.

We were so close to using an agency and paying £3000 and everyone was saying 'DONT DO IT' and you were all right, so you have saved us loads of money too,

Thanks Everyone x
