We are already living in New Zealand & as I still have my British passport have to send off to the UK for a police check even though I haven't lived there for 20+ yrs.

In section 4, proof of identity & current address this is what it says :-

To help establish your identity, this application MUST be accompanied by TWO OFFICIAL DOCUMENT(S) which between them show your name, date of birth and current address, (photocopies are NOT acceptable). The following documents may serve this purpose:-

For example, driving licence, passport, birth certificate, medical card, vehicle registration document, any household bill (e.g. gas telephone etc.),bank statements or any other official document which has your name & address on it.

My question is to those of you who have had to send off for your police checks from New Zealand, what did you send????? Immigration are going to want birth certificates etc, so what do I send to verify my date of birth & do they send them back.

Please help someone I'm sweating over this. :wah

I can't help because I applied for mine on a visit to the UK, but have you asked if they accept certified documents. The british embassy certified passport copies for me for a completely different purpose - maybe that would be acceptable?

I applied from NZ and I sent them a photocopy of my NZ drivers licence and my UK drivers licence. They weren't certified either.
I think it all depends on the force you apply through. (I used Hampshire.)

Read the forms closely, but I think if you send "notarized" photocopies of your birth certificate and passport, that is OK.

we sent bank statements and utility bill. I don't think we sent anything with a date of birth on it.

Thanks for the help guys, I did read the forms closely that was the reason for asking. Anyway I got in touch with my SIL in Auckland(ex cop with Durham constabulary) & she e-mailed one of her friends over there who deals with the checks. The reply was as I was living overseas photocopies would be accepted so sent them off a couple of days ago.
