Had a search and can't find this........ we will probably be bringing our pets with us......... 1 dog and 4 cats. We're wondering how much vets fees cost in NZ and can you get pet insurance out there?

Yes you can get pet insurance, though I don't have it so I'm not sure how much. I find vet fees slightly less than in North America and so far have had very good care for my dogs. The only strange thing I've found is that my dog had to see an ophthalmologist and there's only one in the country. Luckily, he's about a 20 minute drive from where I live. He said they often send pets to Australia for treatment.

Dog vaccinations are about $90 per year, you have to register a dog as well with the local council, that costs us $90 a year, but varies on area.

We have never had insurance, but a quick google tells me about these companies....

Cant help with cats, hubby refuses to have one in the house.....
