We got three big holes in ceiling, one just above our bed and another just above our daughter's bed :(
Came light two weeks ago during heavy overnight rain, we contact our landlord, ray white estate (they are rubbish by the way!) and took another week before a prat roofer came around look at the roof and found no problem :uhoh .....since then we have not heard from ray white.
Today it is another heavy rain, two of them already start leaking into bowls, we have moved romilly's cot out of way but washing machine and our bed is not easy...so my husband said that he will be at ray white's first thing in the morning if he get wet during the night!!! :exit
I wondering what other people have experience it and how they solve it?? is possible to have get out cause in contract due to leaky ceiling that landlord won't fit it? or do we have to accept it that is part of NZ's leaky house??!!!

That is not acceptable, take photos as evidence and put a complaint in writing to the landlord/ray whites as well as your verbal complaint.

http://www.dbh.govt.nz/landlords-problem-free-rentals

have a look here, it clearly states that the house has to be in a reasonable state of repair, yours is clearly not... I regard a leak free roof as pretty much essential!

As Sal says you don't have to accept it. On the link to the site Sal mentioned there are also proforma letters that you can send to the Landlord.

They have to answer in a specfic time and get the problem fixed too. Easier said than done I know, but if you use the official wording SOME landlords are quick off the mark.

If they don't fix the problem you are entitled to give them a short notice to quit, I think 10 days but check.

The Tenancy people are also very helpful on the phone too.

Good luck. We had the same problem with our 1st NZ rental but after we used the tenancy site it was fixed very quickly.

Thanks for tips!
Well this morning, the roofer prat rang and came over to look at roof after heavy rain day before to see what is like.
After few mins of inspecting, he said he will contact ray white asap...our roof is full of water...
so watch this space.
