Ok...so much to do! Thanks everyone for all your help thus far. I'm still wading through the process!
NZQA requires "certificate of completion" for secondary school. Does this mean my diploma, or may I get a letter stating I completed from the school? (I think I've lost that diploma and think it would be easier to get a letter).
Also, is the required "complete official academic syllabus" just for my college degree? What if I started at one college, then finished at another? Do I need to get this from secondary school and both colleges, or final college who awarded my degree (in teaching).
I have a bachelors and masters degree. Do I need the academic syllabus for both?
Argh. Sorry!

Sorry, I can't help you. :o
But I'd thought I'd give it a bump, just in case some one can.
Good luck though and I hope everything works out for you.

I don't know either really but what I do know is that NZQA will want to see proof that you have the quals you claim you have. So you need to supply this proof.
They will also want to know what your quals were all about ie subject areas etc so, again, they'll want to see proof of this.
From my experience if you are asking yourself things like: "do I need to send both?" the answer to your question will invariably be Yes!
Hope this helps...

I am currently going through the process of gathering everything for assessment (I am a primary school teacher). I contacted my uni who have sent me a transcript of my PGCE.
Do they contact my current employer at all? I don't really want to tell them what I am planning to do just incase it doesn't happen. Does anyone know as I don't fancy having to tell my Head.

Thanks for the bump up here!
I agree that sending everything when it doubt is the best bet. I've decided to do just that. What a process!
As for anyone contacting current employer, I don't think they will. I've read so many posts on here where people say they were asked before a current employer was called, but most say that if they sent appropriate proof of currently employment (contract or pay stubs, for example), then no contact was even needed.

Agree with above, no contact was made with employers at all as NZIS were happy with what we'd submitted. If you're claiming points for work experience they wanted to see proof ie a complete history of employment (contracts etc) for the period claimed. As long as you supply everything to prove what your claiming, in my experience, they were ok with that alone.

Hi
I would suggest that you get the transcript information from university courses you have completed and as much evidence of your experience in terms of references as you can :yes I am just aat the early stages of getting my quals assessed for secondary teaching, all of the information I have read to date suggests sending as much information about your qualifications and experience as you can
Hope this helps :roll

I got letters from personnel directors at each of the two school boards where I previously worked telling my position and how long I worked. I'm thinking of getting the principals at each school to also write a letter verifying my work experience there.
As for my current job, I am only sending pay stubbs for every month since I've been there (this academic year only). I hope that will be enough because I am not ready to alert my current employer of my plans. I had to turn my contract in when I signed it, and it didn't occur to me to demand a copy (they always put then in the personnel file).
I'm hoping to have all my materials ready to send off by Jan. 31. It has taken me much, much longer to gather info than I thought! I'll have to pay a small fortune to have it fast-tracked.
