Hi All

Joined yesterday - thanks for all your lovely welcomes on the Introductions thread :nice1

Ok my question may be a little silly but get mixed answers even from NZIS :no

I am in the process of filling our EOI in to submit for next Weds draw - I have claimed points for a diploma. My diploma is a Pitmans (Secretarial ) PA Diploma.

Have asked on an other site with mixed answers and rang NZIS and got 2 different answers from 2 people.

End of the day it is a diploma and that is what they have in drop down box.

Any ideas to confuse me even more ? :laugh

Hi Georgina

Not sure I can really answer your question but in my opinion I would include it as a Diploma. If it's not acceptable then NZIS will inform you. They may reduce the number of points you have but on reading a different thread from yourselves, am I right in assuming that Andy is the main applicant? If he is then you would only lose 10 bonus points - which still gives you 130. We were selected with 135 points and no job offer.

I hope this helps somewhat.

mmm, difficult one. Does the diploma drop down cover your qual? - don't know! But NZQA would...? Maybe worth contacting them. Or you could have a look in the NZ list of recognised quals booklet, might be some info in there.

Does it drastically affect your points tally if they don't recognise it?

Hiya

I have rang NZIS house one said yes one said no :D

I think I will just give it a go as it is a diploma and see what happens :cheers

Yes as I am the main applicant it would drop our points from 110 down :uhoh

Thanks everyone though

:)

Have you tried NZQA rather than NZIS to assess your qualification? Looking through the EOI guide it sort of suggests that where it might end up?

I know you can get "pre-assessed" by NQZA but have no further details on this, sorry. Am sure someone else will have this expertise though as they are a knowledgable bunch on here!

PS I am looking at p26-27 of the EOI guide

Thanks all for your help - but it states diploma so that is what we decided to go with - we shall see what happens :nice1

Can't help but to offer commiseration...last year hubby's diploma was dropped to a certificate (by NZQA), so we asked NZQA and NZIS what the next step was, and learned they won't answer anything that sounds like advise. :( So hubby is working on his degree, but from what we've found, the best assessment we can expect is a diploma.*sigh* Well, as may people say on this forum, take what life gives you and make it work! (Not a direct quote, a combo of many :D )
Good luck with the EOI, and I hope you get the highest points possible. :)
