Hi, we arrived from the UK in New Zealand 5 weeks ago and just trying to find our feet and have opportunites in Wellington. We are interested in The Hutt Valley but wondered if anyone lives in the area. We are intersted to find out good/bad areas. What are the Beaches, Rivers, lakes like. Is there a good community feel to the place. Good access to Wellington. We are going to take a trip down in a few days but would like to hear from anyone who lives there. We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 3 and 9 so good schools and areas important.

I can get a job in most cities so would also like to hear about hidden jems where people live either on the North or South Island.
