Hi All

We have a set of three seagrass hampers - with wood frames - and I'm not sure if we can bring them to New Zealand.

One shipper/packer said no and another said yes so I'm not sure what the situation is.
The one who said yes said that if the frame had been bamboo then it would be a definate no but as its a wood frame it will be ok

Checking to see if anyone knows or had any experience with Seagrass furniture?

Any assistance appreciated!

Just a quick reply as I am at work (internet not working at home) I was told I could have brought mine, you can buy them here - they range from $10 upwards depending on size/style and shop its bought from. MAF would probably want to check them - but as long as you declare them you are ok....same goes for wooden ornaments - I could have brought mine - as long as I had declared them as wooden ornaments on my Maf list! - I may still get my mum to ship them across - if its cheap enough.

hope that helps rgds

I bought my two little drawer sets, and declared them, MAF had a quick glance at them, no problems.

Just make sure they are clean, I gave mine a hoover out with the brush attachment..

Shippers say whatever suits them .. their version of the regulations should not be taken as gospel. Mine told me that no food was allowed - I told them it was and that if they didn't pack it we were going to have a problem. They packed it without any more discussion - I declared it to MAF .. all fine!

I brought in 2 x wicker hamper baskets, 2 x wicker bedside tables, 3 x seagrass baskets, 1 x wicker laundry basket, 1 x wicker chair - all fine!

Do your research (like this!) and stand your ground! GOOD LUCK ;)
