Seeing as I'm new here, thought I'd share my medical experience as it may prove helpful to others.

As part of my new job I had to have further medicals over and above the emigration ones, this involved detailed examinations and a drugs test. As I didn't want all the hassle of travelling to different places to get the various aspects of the exams done, I hunted around to find somewhere that would do everything in one go. I used the Abbey Medical Group in York and I couldn't recommend them enough. The x-rays were done at a walk-in clinic at York distric hospital in the morning (£77) which I then took to the medical centre with me in the afternoon. I was able to look at the x-rays myself but not open the envelope containing the medical documents. Abbey Medical did all of my blood tests, urine tests/drug tests and it cost a total of £500ish (including my extended medicals). due to the extra medicals I needed for work I also needed a copy of things like the blood test results in a seperate envelope to give to my employer, which they were more than happy to do. All my results took less than 10 days to arrive from the day of the medical which I thoguht was pretty good in considering it was just before Christmas.

i know a lot of people have had real hassle with medicals and I thought it was going to be a pain but it proved otherwise. Anyone else have a 'good' medical experience?

Hi Lee

For anyone in Devon and Cornwall looking to move to NZ I would really recommend Dr Gibbs at the Stannary Surgery in Tavistock (he's a native of Wellington). Bloods and x-rays done at the Nuffield in Plymouth - all results came through quickly (10 days).
