Hi everyone,

I am Cal, very new to all this forum stuff so be kind, I don't know any abrevieations or fancy stuff. I have been visiting this forum for some time now and have just got round to actually contributing. I, my OH and my 2 children are moving to the Tauranga, Bay of Plenty shortly. We are going out on a PR visa and the house is sold, waiting to go through solicitors etc. We haven't got a firm date yet but I hope we can get there by the beginning of March at the latest. It has got to that scary stage now where there is definatly no going back. I am likening it to the early stages of labour when you know it's going to hurt and it's too late for the epidural! Of course, as with labour, we are also looking forward to getting to know the end result. I am going to teach in NZ so I am looking for a job, bit of a silly time considering they are all off on their summer hols at the moment. OH is going to start his own bussiness once we get settled. He wants to set up a recording studio. My children are aged 8 and 2. the 8 years old is beginning to get excited about the pending move which is a bonus because up until now she has been quite unsure.

Well peeps, hope this give and idea of who I am, if there is anyone out there in a similar situation I would love to hear from you.

Cal :cheers

For someone who knows no abbreviations, you managed to use the only 2 I had trouble with when starting :)

OH and PR

My wife and I will be moving to Papakura in Feb, and we are both teachers too [though she was lucky enough to be trained in NZ too! so is walking straight into a job with a posh school in Karaka]

Welcome to the forum, you already encouraged me on my other thread, so I know you'll fit right in here! :nice1

Remember, there is someone on here who knows, or can find out anything you need to know, so feel free to ask, they really are a caring helpful bunch here {ahh...} :p

Cal, welcome to the forum!!!

Sounds like a similar situation to lots on here, including us. We wish you all the best, and if hub has a recording studio set up would love to see it one day ;)

Good luck in your venture

Steve

Hi,
Interested to hear you're going out without a job when you're a teacher. Are you primary or secondary? Good luck with finding a job, I'd be interested to hear how you get a job once there.

Hope it all goes well,
Carey

Welcome Cal,
you know what PR means - that's all you really need to know eh!!!

I have an 8 yr old daughter and 11 yr old son. We lived in NZ from Nov 05-May 06 and returning again - permanently this time - on 18th Jan. My daughter loved it there - she can't wait to get back. She's already stopped wearing shoes in preparation. She's worn only flip flops (jandals!!!) since coming back, which can be embarassing in town centre on cold days!!! Your 8 yr old will love it i'm sure - in fact my daughter said recently that she's most looking forward to going back to NZ so she can go to school (she hates school here)

Anyway, welcome Cal, hope we can all be of help!

hannah

Just wanted to add my welcome - haven't really had time to cach up on all the posts these days - spent a lot of time on the forum in the uk - but computer time in NZ is spent catching up with the uk - in particular my dad since he is sorting the house saga out !! (will post a full update on this when it is eventually over - promise!!)

Anyway welcome to the best place (besides NZ) for finding out information and meeting some great people who will help you on your journey! :raebanana
