Just wondering if anyone knows any great websites for finding distances between things, and little known towns in NZ.

streetmaps.co.uk is the standard for me here, but it can't tell me how far it is from "the Waikato" to Karaka [or even where "the Waikato" begins or ends??? :) ]

Basically, wife will be working in a school in Karaka, but we are nowhere NEAR the $750K - $1.5Mil they charge for houses there.

Somone suggested we look around the Waikato, but not sure where it starts, or how far that commute would be.

www.zoomin.co.nz (think thats right?)

try Maporama i used it when i came looking for work before we emigrated and it was very good. gives you distance time and directions.

The Waikato is a whole region - and begins just south of Auckland and extands south and west beyond there. Hamilton is the main town.
Karaka ia beautiful, but, like you said, very expensive. Lots of lifestyle sections and huge houses.
For maps try using www.smaps.co.nz
You can input any address and it will pinpoint the location for you and provide directions. Wises are good, but I find it a little temperamental. The AA website provides great maps, but the driving directions are sometimes ridiculous.
