I was just giving these links on another thread, but thought they might be useful to others.

I-Sites are like tourist information centres plus more. When we first arrived they helped us with everything from finding accommodation (without having to pay an agents fee), to calling a taxi, giving information about pre-schools, the best route to the zoo, sending a fax ($2) and a map of the local area.

Their helpfullness probably does depend on who you get but they've always known the answers to my questions, or know someone who does.

See these links for contact details:

Yes, I can second that - they were extremely helpful/useful when we were over there... Look for the green i sign. One in every larger town

I third it! :D We would head for each towns city center, find the (green sign) info centers, stretch our legs, and figure out what we wanted to do in each town. The employees where very polite and helpful.
BTW, Tia, I couldn't get those links to work.

Yep, you're right they've all disappeared, I thought I'd checked the links - it must have been one of those days!

So try this:

www.tourismnewzealand.com
(type 'i-SITE Visitor Centres' into Search, for a description of what they are)

www.totaltravel.co.nz
(type 'information centre' into Search for a list of I-sites and information centres)

www.newzealand.com/travel
(click on I-Site link at bottom)

Hopefully these will be more useful!

Cheers

Tia
