Just wanted to say hello to everyone my name is paul we (me the OH and 2 little girls) want to come to NZ in about 2 years as i've got things to sort out here 1st, hopefully some of you might be able to help me with a couple of things, at present i am a fleet co-ordinator for a hgv company in the uk but i am trying to find out if there is a shortage of HGV class 2 drivers in NZ and will it give me more points when applying for PR as i'm :confused: when looking at the long and short term list.

hi there hgv drivers are on the list but not sure if its for class 1 or all classes

There is a shortage for all HGV drivers in the short list, and includes HGV2 OR class 4 in New Zealand.

Hi,

There is a shortage of class 4 & 5 drivers(class 2 & 1 uk) out here, but at the moment the role is only on the Immediate skills list and not the Long term list. Basically at this present time you will only be able to come in on a work visa unless you are fortunate enough to be offered a position with an accredited company which means you will be able to go down the WTR route.
The haulage industry, along with a couple of emigrating agencies are pressurising NZIS to include the role on the Long term list a.s.a.p.

Thanks for your reply's and kind word's can't wait to join all of you, i hope they do list it on the long term list as this will give me more points i'm on about 105 at the moment so we do qualify but would rather apply when there is more chance with more points. when we do get over there perhaps i could come and have a chat with you Kim.
