I assume this now means i would need to get my Electrical Qualifications assesed by NZQA just to submit my EOI? As previously my english City and Guilds were recognised and i thought i didnt need to get an assesment done.

Suppose thats now something else that means will take more time and more cash :no

Any other Electrical folk, or anyone had to do this with there City and Guilds?
I have no job offer btw, and very few points, hence the plan to try the risk of moving all out to NZ in summer and "hope" i can find work and be allowed work visa! /gulp

Hi Lee,

Me and my boyfriend are just heading back out nz to find a job offer. If you have no commitments here, like many have houses to sell, kids in School etc then theres no reason why you can't just go there on a visitors visa with a return ticket. Look for work, get job offer and apply for WP then later on once your happy and want to settle apply for PR.

My partner is a mature apprentice carpenter, he only has 2 yrs Work Experience and a basic Carpentry C&G so probably would not qualify this end for PR without job offer.

So heading out and doing it this way instead....fingers crossed. NZ are crying out for Trades People. It would mean you don't have to wait months this end.

Hope this helps

Cathy

Thanks, yes i am planning the "big-risk-pack/leave-plunge" method, hoping to get out july time and if all goes well i hope to not use my return flight! But i was still planning to at least make a start in the PR process with an EOI start etc, i know it can then hopefully be continued then from NZ, well that was my idea.

Chippie eh, well if he gets work on a site that needs another Sparky give me a call :-)

The pre-assessment option is fine for the EOI, but you will still need the full assessment done for the ITA. It took 10 days and $75US to have the pre-assessment. We have to have another one in March, (hubby took more classes) and we're planning on submitting both pre and full at the same time, so we don't have to wait to submit the EOI, and when the full assessment arrives in 2-3months, hopefully we can put it to good use! :)
