Hello Everyone!
My wife and I are finally fulfilling our dream to move to New Zealand! We are leaving the U.S. very soon to relocate to Wellington.
I was accepted into the honours programme at Victoria University, I plan on receiving my Ph.D. in Psychology and hopefully become a clinician or professor.
We are a young couple (23 and 21), but we are well traveled and are very confident that we will adapt to NZ.
We love the culture, love the kiwi's -- we love New Zealand.
Although it's sad to leave home, (we have sad moments mixed with ecstatic moments every minute) we are ready to make the move.
I'll be writing a blog that some of you might be interested in:

No doubt we'll be posting again here soon. I'm so happy (and somewhat relieved) I found this site!
Kind regards,
Jonathan and Jayme Cisco

Hi Jonathan, just read your blog :) I thought I'd throw out that if you were looking for a Backpackers for a few days in Welly, you could try Wildlife House. It's a 7 story building striped black and white like a zebra. They have dorm-style accommodation, private rooms with communal restrooms, or private "suites". They're pretty small and a bit shabby, but cheap and the building is on Tory right up from Courtney if you went a bit of nightlife. (The hotel gives you drink vouchers for a bar right down the street!) We ended up moving to a hotel across the city the next night, though, because we just felt so old with all the college kids staying there. :o Everyone was very friendly, though!
Congrats on your move,
Ana

Hi Jonathon (I seem to always be answering your posts)
1) The hostel I understand you are staying in (I'm being overcautious in not revealing it here as I recieved it through work, and it's therefore technically confidential, if anyone was wondering) is in my experience and opinion, far superior to Wildlife House.
2) Have you tried looking for accomodation through the university's accomodation finder?
3) If you do need furniture, the salvation army family stores sell (and deliver) cheap second hand furniture. And whiteware (washer, fridge etc) can easily be rented, which students tend to do.

Well, since I'm basing my experience on a whirl-wind visit, and you actually live and survive there, anna_c, I bow to you wisdom! :D

Hi All,
Thanks for all your help! You all are so nice!
We found a great hostel that the university set us up with. Right now, we are focusing on finding permanent accommodation (hoping for 1BR, semi/fully furnished, close to Uni, safe area).
Please let me know if you know of anything!
Kind regards,
Jonathan Cisco
