Hi there
I know a friend who has a residency in Australia and works in NZ. Is the reverse possible? I mean if one is a resident of NZ, can he/she works in Australia? keeping in mind a visa to enter Australia is required!

Do you mean to live and work? Unfortunately it's not a reciprocal arrangement, and to work in Australia you would require NZ citizenship or some form of work visa.
I did work over there on my UK passport as an NZ resident, but solely as a business visitor, as an employee of an NZ company that would be returning to NZ to reside.
You can find out all the info on the DIMIA website. (Australian version of NZIS.)
