Dear friends,
Thank you all for the advices you gave me
Yesterday at last I received an email from my Case Officer that she wants to interview us.
Concerning the fact that I am Bulgarian and NZIS doesn't conduct interviews here, she gave me several oprions: Immediately in London Branch, or April in Germany or Netherlands.
Can you advice me if it will be appropriate to ask for a phone interview instead of face-to-face interview? Is it acceptable? Does anybody experienced that situation?
Thank you in advance

Hi Marin,
Of course you can ask for a telephone interview, but the NZIS has a strict rule on that one, being: when English is not your first language you have to do the interview face-to-face.
And I even think it is more of an advantage to the applicant, although it can cost extra money to travel to London.
My advice: travel to London!!
Cheers,
Anita

Hi Marin
I'd ask, there's nothing to lose. :nice1
But what Anita says is correct and looking at your timeline and how long this is taking you, I'd snatch her hand off and go to London.
Is that a realistic option for you, moneywise?

Yeah have to agree with that one, it is better to speak face to face if you can.

Hi Marin,
I think you can opt for a phone interview if you think travelling to London for the interview alone doesn't justify the cost. English isn't my first language and I live in a different country than my case officer, but I'm having a telephone interview next week.
In fact, I wasn't even given an option for a face-to-face interview as my case officer knew that it wasn't practical.
I suggest that you call your case officer and humbly ( ;) ) request for a ph interview. You'll have nothing to lose and you can get a bit more info about your case officer by chatting...you'll also have a chance to prove that your English isn't too bad!!!

Thank you all for your advices.
I asked for a phone interview but I was answered that face-to-face interview is necessary. So that I am going to London in 10 days with my wife.
Can you tell me how long is the inetrview?
What type of questions should I expect and some usefull tips, if possible:)
I appreciate your advices:)

I'm not sure how long the face to face interview is, as we had a phone one.
But you'll stay calm, take a deep breath and have a pause before you answer. They're not looking to trip you up, just to see that you've thought about what you are doing, made some plans, are committed to moving and contributing to NZ and have thought about what you'll do IF things go wrong.
You'll be fine. :nice1 Good luck and please let us know how you got on.

Hi Marin
The answer is something you'd feel comfortable with saying, so that it doesn't end up sounding false.
I don't think they'll want to hear you say "We'll just pack up and go home".
Something like, "if my job doesn't work out, I'll find something else that utilizes my skillset" or "I'll look for support if we can't cope with my wife's terrible homesickness".
Something to show that you have thought about "it" just in case it happens. I hope that's not all too deep for this time of the morning!
Good luck
