we recently and intentionally flew to oz via sing because it is a great airport esp with children, then were more than a litttle p'd to find on arrival at airport for return flight we were travelling via bang (trailfinders - intentional deception - be careful with them). awful airport that it is we consoled ourselves with a head/ shoulder massage/ steam in one of those 'official' places. didn't realise till we got home that our dig cam was missing - with card inside and almost all photos of 5 week hols. it was never further away than our feet. figure they grabbed it while we were under the cloth. just because these places seem legit doesn't mean they are - best be careful.

insurer and trailfinders wouldn't cover so the massage was an additional £500 plus lost photos. nice way to wind up ...

Hi,

What a horrible thing to happen. :(

Why won't your insurer pay out (wouldn't expect Trailfinders to) ? Who was your policy with?

Hi Leslie

Sorry to hear about that - as Diny says, there really is some scum about :uhoh !! But surely theft of digi cam would be covered under your travel insurance (or maybe even your household insurance - I know we're allowed to claim a certain amount for things taken outside of the house such as cameras - don't know if it covers overseas though :? )

Debs,

Your right about checking the household insurance. We specifically increased ours to include our camera & camcorder because the travel insurance wasn't adequate. The household ins covers overseas.

That said, am I right in saying that your just guessing that it was stolen in Bangkok? You didn't notice till you got home? If your household ins only covers UK, you might want to think about where you think the camers was stolen .....if you get my drift.

:eek When we returned from NZ a couple of years ago, there was a photo of a 'lady' lifting up her top and showing off her bra when sitting on the aeroplane on our digital camera. They must have grabbed the camera while we were sleeping and taken the photo. We thought it was quite a laugh, that's one way of curing the boredom of the flight. :laugh Ukiwibird, wife of Wayne

hi - just picked up on this...

noone would accept responsibility for anything. losers all. BA wouldn't compensate for damage to new pushchair etc etc. so many things and so much crap. bit of a shock.

when we changed policy pre-trip we asked for same coverage as previous then turned out that in final doc insurers left out item coverage outside the house - we didn't realise until this happened. imagine - in a city like london, living in a secure house - unbeknownst to us we only had coverage for fire, b&e etc. in the same backpack i had new mac lap, all the bits etc, wallet. bit of a lesson - could have been worse. sharper now.

think major lesson is not to be fooled by 'official' services in countries known for scamming tourists. including england.
