Any ideas how long it would take to get a working visa through once out in NZ ??

We have to do our move the 'cheap' way, go out on visitors visas and my hubby apply for working visa once out there.

unfortunately cannot afford to wait this end for the medicals to take place, new boss wants him out there by march

any one done their move this way ?? tried pm ing Nanny ogg few times who i believe did it but have not got response so far unfortunately!

any advice ??

We did it that way, nearly three years ago now. I had already got all of OH work experience letters, so once he had his contract he went directly to NZIS in Chch, waited in the queue, got to see an immigration officer and had it issued there and then. I did the same thing for me and the kids, I got an open work permit and the kids student permits.

have a feeling it takes a couple or weeks or so in Auckland. not so many of us in Christchurch so quicker :-)

In Auckland you cannot get one issued immediately - it takes 2-4 weeks (their words).
