We're going over for 6 weeks with 3 kids in March/April. How do we go about seeing a Doctor if we or the kids need to while we're there? Does Uk have a recirocal arrangement ? Are there places you can call in 24/7?
Despite spending a year in NZ 17 years ago, I can't remember how it works but more to the point OH and I were without kids so these things weren't such an issue!

Thanks,
Carey

you just make an appointment at any doctors and pay the same as we would. Uk doesnt have a reciprical agreement. If its the result of an accident, ie sprained ankle, something in your eye etc then it would be covered under the ACC so would be free.

Hi there,

There's no reciprocal agreement with the UK. It's basically private here unless it's an emergency. However, because of that it is easy to see a Doctor - you just have to pay!

We came to Auckland for 6 months and saw our local doctor a few times for this and that .. it's about $30 for kids (from memory), $50 for adults, and you pay for prescriptions ($20 maybe) - not too bad ..

Outside of Auckland - I'm not sure but I think it's the same system but probably much cheaper!!!

Aside from being my initials! - it's the Accident Compensation Corporation

Which provides free care for any accidental injuries at work, sport or at home.
