This waiting for a case officer is painful! Its been a couple of months now. Looking at the dates they are dealing with now i reckon its going to be mid feb before we get assigned a CO. I think i will have lost my hair by then!

We're in the same boat as you Neil. Our ITA was submitted about a month earlier and we have not been assigned a case officer yet.

oh... and the skilled migrant processing times webpage (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/branch/londonbranchhome/tipsandprocessingtimes/skilledmigrantprocessingtimes.htm) has not been updated since before Christmas; it used to be updated every week. :no

Hi there

Thought I would also join in with the communal hair-pulling. I submitted my ITA on 9th October 06 and I've not been assigned a case officer yet.

I've applied for a few jobs and I'm really, really really hoping that I'll get an offer for a position through soon....I've read that having a job offer fast-tracks you through the system?

My husband is champing at the bit to leave (he's Aussie, doesn't need to go through all the beauracratic hoop-jumping), and I think he's more stressed by the slow process than I am....I keep expecting to get home from work to find a "see you in NZ" note waiting for me!!!

Fingers crossed for the job.....and I'll keep them crossed for everyone else too!

Patience is a virtue as we are told. NZ house aren't renowned for rushing things. But when it does happen you'll end up with so much to do. Good luck to you all in this process, it ain't easy, but let's hope it is all worth it in the end.

Our path is nearing completion, it has been long and sometimes hard, but a lot of that has been our choice and down to circumstances. Just looking at flights and waiting to give the final go ahead to the removals. Never thought we would get here, but it does if you are committed - eventually!

Just wanted to say "hang in there"! :)

I submitted a very similar post a few months back. For what its worth, when it does happen, it normally moves very quickly. We got a phonecall from someone, saying - I'm your case officer and can you do a telephone interview tomorrow. (sadly we missed the call as we were on holiday in Greece) - three months waiting and they choose the one week that we are out of the country !

We re-scheduled as soon as we got back (thankfully you don't get put to the back of the queue) and had PR within a few days, so even though its a long time coming, once your application is being looked at, it moves pretty quickly. I'm guessing things also slowed down with Christmas holidays etc, but they are probably back up to speed soon... fingers crossed for you all that you hear something soon.

Just to let you know having a job offer massively speeds things up - I was assigned a case officer within 2 weeks, in fact it was 1 month exactly between submitting EOI and getting PR. Easy for me to find a job on Ministry of Education website as a speech and language therapist, don't know whether easy for you?

Hey Sam

I'm also a speech and language therapist, but looking to continue working with adults when in NZ. There seems to be a shortage of therapists in both paediatric and adult fields in NZ, but my problem is that we're planning to travel around South America for a few months before arriving ....it might be August before we get to NZ and it's proving a bit tricky to secure a job so far in advance.

What are your plans so far? Have you got a date set for when you're moving? It's good to know that having a job offer speeds up the process....just need to convince someone to hire me now!

Cheerio for now,
Ali

FINALLY!!

We got allocated a case officer yesterday, now just have to wait some more for them to contact us. Can anyone give me an idea of timescales from here?

Neil

I can't answer your question but am pleased to see you've been assigned your CO at last. :raebanana

We lodged our ITA on 7 December so are hoping we won't be too far behind you. We have to be out of our house on 27 April. :(

Good luck with the rest of the process.

Hi All
We submitted ITA on the 26th October and were contacted by our case worker 27th February. Our interview is next week - then we wait ....

Seems they have a backlog at the moment.
