As some of you know we arrived in Nov 05, and thinking we had 2 years from the moment we entered the country as i had been issued with a 2yr work visa we were surprised to see in the passport a stamp that said we had to leave the country by 14th Feb 07. So we only had 15 months and not the 24 we originally thought we had. Anyway after struggling in the industry i'm in, which is transport, we decided that Elaine would become principal applicant for a new work visa altogether.

Now luckily for us, the company she is with didn't want to lose her, so they started to go down the accreditation route, and the idea was to put her through accreditation. Now seeing as time was running down, Elaine applied for a general work visa in Nov, and was informed it would take 20 days to process. Now this was ideal for us as we would have a reprieve whilst waiting for the accreditation to go through. Well that 20 days turned into 7 weeks, and today we were told that we had been approved for, not the general visa, but a WTR visa. So 2 years from the moment the passport has different blue stickers in it we will have that elusive residency, something which cannot be done on a general work visa. So a big thank you to NZ immigration for putting a wide eyed smile on the wife's face:raebanana

Just leaves me to sort out a different type of employment for myself....any idea's:confused:

That's great, well done. Im really nervous now, I want to use my heavy truck license over there. I will probably be able to work, but will keep my fingers and toe's crossed for an accredited company or that LTSSL.

Cheers for now
