Hi Everyone,
Tirigirl posted an interesting article that you now have to have your qualification reviewed even if it's on the approved list.

It does raise a question on how the NZQA assess the qualification. Ok, bare with me. I Work in IT in software testing. My degree is Maths and Physics so not relevant. However I know that at the time a did my course (1990) the Computing degree hardly touched on software testing therefore this degree isn't actually relevant to a testing job. However because the title is Computing they could claim the bonus points.

So, do the NZQA look at every module you studied to make the assessment or do they look at the overall degree/HND/HNC etc.. If they looked at each module then my Maths & Physics degree would probably be as 'relevant' as the Computing degree.....um. Also I've completed several testing specific courses far more relevant but these probably won't count

Any thoughts or does anyone know how the NZQA perform the assessment?

The Long Term Shortist list is very specific about the degrees that are valid and I think you will find that unless you have a proper computing degree, then you won't be able to claim bonus points.

If you go onto the NZQA website and click on the Guide to a full assessment - this basically tells you exactly what they expect you to give them. if I've read it correctly I do believe in some circumstances they do what the actual syllabus/curriculums if you are unable to give them a list of modules studied. Might not be relevant to you though.

I think the only way to find out is to send off your certificates (and photocopies! otherwise they charge you $50) and see what they come back with.
