Our stuff is due to arrive in a few days, we have only brought a small amount of personal possesions and a couple of bikes - just over 2 cubic metres.

Had a quote form the agent assigned to us in NZ this morning that we are looking at a $300 fee. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is high? And can we change agents?

The agent are called 'waranted safe arrival Auckland'

Thanks

Dan

Did you hire a shipper before arriving, and is this just the agent your shipper uses on the NZ end that's charging you the $300? If so check your contract with the original shipper you hired before coming to NZ.

For example, our original shipper was Global Ocean Freight, but when our container arrived in NZ the agent GOF hired at this end - World Wide Movers (aka NZ Vanlines) - insisted we owed them $600 to deliver our stuff 40 km out of Welly, when in fact our contract with GOF said we were covered for delivery within 50 km. After GOF talked to WorldWide that charge was dropped.

Thanks - these are the agents that were given to us by our UK based agent, who told us there would be a nominal fee. For $300 we haveto self clear through customs and MAF and pick up. I'm curious what they do for the money. :uhoh

Yikes, I'm sorry. $300 isn't very "nominal". :no
