Hi all. Any ideas on good places to buy organic food in auckland/on the north shore? We've found small sections in Foodtown, but can't find much organic fruit, veg, milk or meat which i normally always buy.........anyone know of anywhere?
Also, we need to buy a few bits of furniture urgently as we move in to our new house next weekend and our shipment won't be here for a few weeks - any ideas on where to buy a decent (but not too expensive) sofa bed and also a nice childs bed? Ideally an ikea/habitat type place (or am i living with false hope!!).
All input gratefully received!

Er, Ikea/Habitat place, I don't think so. We rented furntiure temporarily (worked out 2 weeks in the end) from www.dtr.co.nz (http://www.dtr.co.nz) which might be an option for a short while. Haven't bought any furniture like that, so can't really help much, sorry, but good luck.

PS Have you seen this thread re markets?

we're renting from dtr - they were very easy and straightforward to deal with - just a bed and a sofa to get us through till our container arrives at the start of feb

i have seen a habitat store in Wellington... tradme has tons of furniture of all shapes, sizes, colors and makes! Don't know about Auckland, but here there are a couple sections of town where several furniture places are all clustered - there has to be something similar if you'll be in Auckland..

Hi there,
Freedom furniture do quite a nice range childs bedroom furniture - try the one at Wairau Park (take the motorway and get off at Tristram Avenue). There are loads of big furniture stores in that area, not sure I'd call any of them particularly cheap though! Give me a ring if you need directions. There's also a 'Back to Bed' shop on Constellation Drive, they always seem to be having a sale.
Cheers.:D

I agree with lollypop - I'm a fan of Freedom furniture too, we've just bought a wardrobe from there (we normally go to Freedom Furniture and Burger King at Wairau Park, North Shore - not very classy I know, but it keeps the kids happy as its got a small play area/slide bit).

Freedom are often putting things on sale, so you can be very lucky, otherwise there is a bit of a wide range in prices. If its in stock they can deliver within a day or 2.
As lollypop says Wairau Park has got a few furniture shops, its not the most attractive place in the world but definitely worth a visit if you haven't already been.
If you're buying a few things and feeling brave, ask for a discount, we got a good discount from Harvey Normans and a voucher from Freedom.

We got a great stylish sofa-bed from a place called REST in Glen Innes for $900. It's one that has a seperate back piece which clicks down (backwards) to make a small double bed (4ft 6"). It was not the cheapest we saw but it certainly was the nicest.
For something more traditional look at Best Buys Furniture (they have a website - www.bestbuys.gen.nz).
Having looked around at a fair amount of furniture stores, say - Roll on Ikea!! In the meantime, Freedom Furniture are about the closest.

Habitat furnishings are available at Nest in Newmarket - but it's quite expensive.
