Following on from my earlier thread the company has agreed to pay back the difference between what they charged us for our MAF inspection and what they paid to MAF.

The company said about a year ago they introduced a standard fee of $350 for a 40' container and $300 for a 20'. This practice will remain unchanged despite my complaint.

So, I should get around a couple of hundred dollars returned. I hope that other people will be encouraged to ask for their "overpayments" back.
You future immigrants are now forewarned and hopefully you can avoid the situation all together.

Good Luck!

Hi Toots

Thanks for the info - will keep it in mind when we finally get around to doing the big move. A couple of hundred dollars is def better in your pocket than theirs!!

It might be a good idea for people to raise this issue with their shippers before they leave their home countries.

If some of you that are already here have paid an excessive fee have a go at getting it back. Also, contact the commerce commission too and let them know know what's going on.

Perhaps we can get it stopped. :hopeso
