I have came across this question on the forms for police checks and im not sure if i just ticked yes to the Scottish criminal records option or to both including the England/Wales option too. I sent it in a few days ago and for the life of me i cant remember if i chose both options. My quandry is i think i just ticked the Scotland option, and a friend who is going to Australia next month said i should have chosen both as it will be rejected as incomplete on my application to NZ. Is this correct? I live in Scotland and was only ever out of it over 30 years ago when serving in the Royal Navy. Did i need to choose both options. Will it make a difference if i have only chose the Scotland option? Can i contact them if i needed to have ticked both? I have pasted the question causing the problem below and would be grateful for any heads up esp from anyone having filled these forms in Scotland.

PLEASE INDICATE IF INFORMATION IS REQUESTED FROM THE POLICE NATIONAL COMPUTER (FOR
CONVICTIONS IN ENGLAND/WALES) *YES/NO
AND/OR THE SCOTTISH CRIMINAL RECORDS OFFICE *YES/NO
If you have been involved in a specific incident for which you now require information please supply us with as much information
as possible to enable us to find it. (this should include, where possible, time, date, place and type of incident).

We ticked the include England Wales option, as it then shows your entire UK criminal history.

Edited, sorry did not read entire post properly :o , I would contact the police station you handed it in at, and see if they can track it down to change it. Either that or just quickly check with your case officer, explain you have never lived outside scotland within the time frame they require, and see what they say...

Thanks Sal, the only problem is that i posted it into the head office. I think i have a phone number for it though. I have not been assigned a case officer yet so cant do that im afraid. I will try and phone the Police office in the city on Monday i think and ask them to check it. I was under the impression that it was only if you had lived in another part of the UK within the last 10 years that you had to get checks done there too. Oh well a bit more work to get done i think :laugh

Our Police Checks were sent to the Head Office in Glenrothes (we live in Dunfermline) and if you have a query you should try and contact them direct. They should definitely be able to help, but I would imagine that ticking Scotland would be fine. We got a letter from Fife Police saying they didn't hold the information we wanted and that it had been forwarded to the relevant department - the final police letter comes from Scotland Yard.

We definitely chose both options but then we only moved to Scotland 2½ years ago. ;)

Thanks PP, i have tried to phone this morning but the line is busy so ive left my number on their answerphone so hope they will get back to me. I cant remember what i ticked and it was only till a friend going to Oz said make sure you tick both options that i got worried. I havnt lived in England or anywhere but Scotland for 30 years or more so thought that was ok. If i get a reply i will update you.

Update
I managed to get through to the office i sent the form to in Glasgow. After confirming a few details she looked at my form and told me that because i had entered that the reason i wanted the information to begin with was to emigrate to NZ that they automatically sent a enquiry to England too and that i will get 2 reports. So that has set my mind at rest. Thanks to all who helped.
