Hi there,

I'm more of a returnee than an emigree, but have found the info in this forum really useful in planning our move.

We're heading back to NZ with considerably more stuff than the backpacks we arrived in Edinburgh with, and are now shopping for shipping.

I've trawled through this thread but have not managed to find any recommendations for Scottish shippers. Anyone out there with good experiences to report? We have the contents of a 1-bed flat to move - probably a part-container load.

We used Crown, they have an office in Livingston, we came over from Glasgow. Was happy with packers both ends.

The guy that comes out to do your assessment seemed very good too. Only small criticism is that the admin staff from that office were not great at calling you back at that time (2005), but the Auckland office were great.

Hi,

We moved from Edinburgh in November and also used Crown. I can confirm the office staff haven't got any better. I thought they were pretty lame in Auckland as well. The packers did a fairly good job and the unpackers at this end were good. Overall though, no major complaints. They did put a huge scratch in my parque flooring in Edinburgh, but paid to get the whole whole re-sanded. I'm also in the process of an insurance claim because they didn't pack the plasma TV properly and the PC has had a knock at some stage (although no obvious damage) because it's very unstable.

I'm still glad I went with Crown though. I've heard too many horror stories about MAF rip-offs by the other companies :uhoh

Hi Kate

We obviously haven't moved yet but have had a quote from White & Co. They moved us from Leeds to Dunfermline 2½ years ago and we were very impressed with them. They only dented a metal computer table which we claimed for on insurance and they paid up with no hassles.

We have just received a very good quote from them. They are also offering (should we need it) 8 weeks free warehouse rental and thereafter will charge £35.00 per week.
