Okay I'm sure I'm being really stupid, but bear with me, it's a Sunday.

I'm looking at this EIO form that we all love to hate. And I'm in Section T: Principle Applicant's Other family. Now - It says:

Do you have other Family members? Well Yes (my OH is the primary applicant), there's me for a start (Defacto relationship). Then it goes on to say:

"Give details of ALL your family members, including those adopted legally or by custom. It is not necessary to list deceased family members. As defined in the guide, family includes biological and adoptive parents, and full, half, step and adopted brothers and sisters."

Where Family is a link, if you click Family you get this info (from the glossary):

"We define a family as you, your partner, and your and/or partner's dependent children."

But that contradicts the above one. One says it includes the biological parents and irritating brothers and sisters and the other one says just your partner and kids if you have them.

What am I missing here? I've tried the help page and now I'm just in a knot with it. Please help! (and feel free to tell me that I'm reading something wrong and it's obvious what they actually want to know :yes) Thank you!!

Ignore me, I think it must mean them all looking at the drop down list. Thanks anyhow.

I believe you list your mother, father, brothers and sisters (including step, half etc). This is so if any of your family decide to emigrate in the future to NZ and use you to gain 'family' points - they can verify them with your original application.

I think :)

Hi Helensy,
Sunday or no, I too struggled with this one, submitted EOI with just OH and Kids.
Then re read it and thought oh oh.
When sending in ITA just added all other family, ie; brothers and sisters and parents on additional sheet of A4 and identified as amendment to 'T'.
The previous reply is correct, you can only sponsor those relatives that were originally identified in the ITA, if they wish to apply for family category in the future.
I read and read this one, and eventually emailed NZIS, they confirmed the above. :nice1

helensy, you are definitely NOT the only one to get thrown by this one! :D I think the EOI may be designed to make one feel stupid...don't let it wear you down. :)

Phew, thank you :o

I was getting a little frustrated with it yesterday I must admit :no. That said I feel happier now most of it is stored online, with the exception of some of the codes/numbers that we're still digging out. Getting there, roll on April when it's submit time :yes.
