Hi there
My husband is an electrician and there have been quite a few jobs in the Waikato area. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this area. We are a family of three I am a secondary teacher my son is three, would be looking for advice on schools in area? medical centre? parks? activities for families? crime rates in area? We are planning a move to NZ later this year (all going well!)
Any advice would be great thanks :yes

Over to you Kimbo!!!
Lisa, Kim39 lives there in a place called Te Awamatu - sure he'll fill you in on the delights of the place.... apparently it is dairy and horse stock country, but the climate is quite good. After 9th March we'll be able to let you know ourselves :)

Well thank you Mr D. Lisa seeing its quite late and i have sort of come across this thread just before i hit the sack, i will kind of leave the reply a little sort if you don't mind.
Ok, the Waikato. Whilst some will agree and others won't we have found this region kind to us in many ways. From employment(more so the wife) through to the shorts trips you have to make to get to the likes of Taupo,Rotorua, BOP, Auckland, etc, even my 2 girls are really settled. We had a few locations on our list and went and took a look at them, but we felt we would be more settled within this region, and up to now all has been good. If you do choose this area you won't go to far wrong. Unsure exactly where you are looking, but the likes of TA, Cambridge, Morrinsville, etc are good places to live and bring up family's, and you only a short drive to the bright lights of Hamilton.
Seeing your a teacher, then we have Te awamutu college, as well as an intermediate and primary school. Am sure you could get sorted in one of these schools. Don't have websites to hand but do a search and i'm sure results will be produced.
Now you mention hubby is a sparky, has he been sorted with work? if not drop ward chandler a line, and address your enquiry to a guy called Keith O'Sullivan and mention my name as a friend of mine works for them and i have always said i would direct Sparkies his way.
Any questions feel free to ask.
Kim
